Canada Council speaks on federal budget

“The Canada Council for the Arts is enormously heartened by the positive message sent by the 2012 budget and the support of the government in recognizing the Council’s leadership role,” said Canada Council Board Chair Joseph L. Rotman. “This vote of confidence in the Council is a clear signal of support for the arts as the creative heart of the nation. This government and the Minister of Canadian Heritage, the Hon. Dear Members,

We hope that you are well, and enjoying the warmer weather. After a successful screening of Monitor 8 at Innis Town Hall last week, we bring you three opportunities to get involved with SAVAC.

1 — SAVAC is looking for a Communications & Outreach Coordinator. If you have HTML skills, are a pro at managing multiple databases, and have experience with Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign, please review our guidelines for applying. Also note the extended deadline (Monday, April 2, 2012, 5:00 PM)

2 — Please join us for an information session about granting programs offered by the Ontario Arts Council, including ‘Exhibition Assistance’ grants for which SAVAC is a recommender. This program is presented in partnership with the Art Gallery of Mississauga. (Wednesday, April 11, 2012, 6:30 PM)

3 — An open call for submissions for SAVAC’s 2012 Members’ Group Show. This year the show will be at Gallery 1313 in Parkdale. This is a chance for our membership to show us what they have been working on. All mediums are welcome, including painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, new media installations, and performance. (Deadline: Friday, April 20, 2012, 5:00 PM)
