Hong Kong Ambassadors of Design is seeking a curator to lead DETOUR 2012. We invite the local and international design community to participate and submit a proposal for curatorship and artistic direction. The proposal should include thematic concept, suggestions for brand identity, and promotional strategies. Proposal should illustrate your vision with prospective exhibitions, workshops, lectures, and supporting documentation. Please submit your proposal in A3 format, maximum of 4 pages written + 10 pages visuals.

Scope of workDevelop curatorial theme/approach relating aspect(s) of contemporary design/creative culture to Hong Kong and/or to the exhibition site. Construct a rich program of exhibitions, lectures, workshops, and other related events to engage and inspire the public. Develop PR/marketing strategies and work with appointed vendors on implementation. Recruit local and international exhibitors/participants and act as liaison for the project. Closely manage relevant project/exhibition budgets. Manage on-site events and programs for the duration of festival

Gallery 44 Centre for Contemporary Photography is a non-profit artist-run centre committed to photography as a multi faceted and ever-changing art form. We encourage the submission of exhibition proposals from emerging, mid-career and established artists and curators who are innovative in their use of materials and approach to subject matter. Gallery 44 views photography within the larger context of contemporary artistic practices and relevant cultural issues in today’s society.
